MTA: SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

MOVING SMALL BUSINESS INTO THE BIG BUSINESS OF TRANSPORTATION

Historically, small business entry into the transportation market was challenged by the large size and complexity of transportation projects, the need for capital and bonding and the lack of technical experience in infrastructure projects. In 2010, New York State’s legislature provided the funding to launch a new mentoring program for the MTA.

In 2010, Sacks was retained as the marketing consultant for the new MTA program: The MTA Small Business Development Program, and its sister programs, the MT Small Business Development Program and the MTA Small Business Federal Program. These award winning programs are recognized regionally and nationally as one of the most successful mentoring programs of its types in the country. Sacks continues to serve as the program’s marketing consultant.

For this project, Sacks has developed the brand and all marketing materials and special initiatives to recruit and train MWDBEs for work in the six operating agencies that comprise the MTA. Dr. Sacks also packaged the instructional series  as well as continues to teach the program’s Marketing Course. Sacks also produced several special events to feature two promotional brand messages, MTA:  Moving Forward and It’s a New Day at the MTA
